天长，地久。天地之所以能长且久者，以其不自生也，故能长生。
是以圣人后其身而身先，外其身而身存，非以其无私邪？故能成其私。

Translation & Meaning

天宇恆長，大地永續。天地之所以能夠如此長久不衰，正是因為它們不為自身的私欲而運作，所以反而能萬古長生。 因此聖人謙退地把自己放在眾人之後，反而受到眾人推崇而居先；把個人得失置之度外，反而得以全身安存。 這難道不正是因為他胸懷無私嗎？正因無私，反而自然成就了他生命的圓滿。

Commentary

青禾散人評注：凡刻意汲營自保者，往往困於方寸之地；反之，如天地般「不自生」、專注於利益整體者，反而獲得最深廣的生命托舉。
